the
board of directors and matching funds.
The
proposed FY 2006 budget book was distributed last
week. MIS and Finance are working together to get
the entire budget on the City’s website. In the
interim, the budget message has already been placed
on the website.
Friday morning the City Manager will be attending a
meeting of the Burnt Store Isles Civic Association.
Also attending will be the Administrative Services
Director and representatives from Public Works and
Police. Issues to be discussed, among others, are:
roofing tiles on empty lots/roofs, RV’s in driveway
for extended period, increased traffic on Tripoli,
and damaged/abandoned homes-time to repair or tear
down.
Contractor selection is pending for construction of
two fishing piers and refurbishment of the nature
walk at Ponce de Leon Park. The City received a
$60,000 grant and has budgeted $250,000 to cover the
costs.
The
City Clerk has officially moved back into City
Hall. Entrance to the office area can be accessed
from the front door and from the East entrance.
We
are exploring options for employees’ health
insurance coverage. Employees will have the option
to stay with the current plan, which is a 10%
co-insurance PPO plan with a $200 deductible.
Other options available to our employees will be a
20% co-insurance PPO plan with a $500 deductible or
an HMO plan. The two options just mentioned offer
lower premiums and the HMO, depending on your
medical need, may result in lower out-of-pocket
expenses. Human Resources will hold meetings with
all employees to fully explain all three plan
options, in order to inform everyone prior to
selection of a health plan alternative. Please keep
this in mind – there is no requirement to change
from your current plan. Other options are available
that may offer a viable, lower cost alternative to
both the employee and organization and meet your
health care needs.
