A development company called Primerica with an interest in the Punta Gorda Country Club property dropped off preliminary plans to build an Events Arena (somewhat similar to Germain Arena) on the property.  The property is not in the incorporated limits of the City, but is in the City utility service area.  The project is in the preliminary stages of planning and will be brought before Charlotte County and City in the future.

The presentations made by staff at the Council workshop were well received and professional in approach.  Everyone did an excellent job.  The Emergency Management presentation is available for any clubs or civic groups upon request by calling the Chief’s office.

Copies of the Request for Proposals for Construction Manager At Risk and Program Manager At Risk regarding Laishley Park and Public Works/Utilities Campus, respectively, will be handed out to City Councilmembers with the Council Agenda package tomorrow.

The Community Sailing Center site location issue will be on the July 6th City Council agenda.

The Strategic Planning Workshop is being planned for Thursday, July 7th at 9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers.

Based on a discussion at yesterday’s Council workshop, the City Clerk will look into creating a centralized Citizen Action Center to receive complaints or requests for service on our website.

Human Resources will be holding an Interviewing Instruction Workshop on Tuesday, June 21st at the Police Department Training Room from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.  Anyone in the City who is involved at all in the interviewing/hiring process will be attending.  The training will include role playing as part of the exercise.  Police Department requested that employees attending carpool wherever possible.

The City Clerk’s office reported that the entire City code book is now on the City website by chapter.  We will work on getting the complete agenda package on-line for citizens’ accessibility.

Police Department made one last call for any changes or updates to the City’s Emergency Management Plan.
