A
development company called Primerica with an
interest in the Punta Gorda Country Club property
dropped off preliminary plans to build an Events
Arena (somewhat similar to Germain Arena) on the
property. The property is not in the incorporated
limits of the City, but is in the City utility
service area. The project is in the preliminary
stages of planning and will be brought before
Charlotte County and City in the future.
The presentations made by staff
at the Council workshop were well received and
professional in approach. Everyone did an excellent
job. The Emergency Management presentation is
available for any clubs or civic groups upon request
by calling the Chief’s office.
Copies of the Request for
Proposals for Construction Manager At Risk and
Program Manager At Risk regarding Laishley Park and
Public Works/Utilities Campus, respectively, will be
handed out to City Councilmembers with the Council
Agenda package tomorrow.
The Community Sailing Center
site location issue will be on the July 6th
City Council agenda.
The Strategic Planning Workshop
is being planned for Thursday, July 7th
at 9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers.
Based on a discussion at
yesterday’s Council workshop, the City Clerk will
look into creating a centralized Citizen Action
Center to receive complaints or requests for service
on our website.
Human Resources will be holding
an Interviewing Instruction Workshop on Tuesday,
June 21st at the Police Department
Training Room from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Anyone in the
City who is involved at all in the
interviewing/hiring process will be attending. The
training will include role playing as part of the
exercise. Police Department requested that
employees attending carpool wherever possible.
The City Clerk’s office
reported that the entire City code book is now on
the City website by chapter. We will work on
getting the complete agenda package on-line for
citizens’ accessibility.
Police Department made one last
call for any changes or updates to the City’s
Emergency Management Plan.
