human services help line available 24/7 for those who need assistance.  The Human Services Department can be contacted at 833-6500.

The e-mail/computer/internet policy is finalized.  The policy will be distributed to all employees, who will be asked to sign a form indicating that they have read and understand its contents.

Jaime Correa and Team Punta Gorda will be presenting their Citizen’s Master Plan for Punta Gorda at the June 15th City Council Meeting.  Charlotte County Commissioners will be invited to attend the presentation and receive the plan document.

Suggestions for strategic plan objectives have been received during the past thirty days.  We are developing a summary of all the recommendations and will present to City Council in a workshop currently being scheduled for later in June.

Administrative Services will be preparing an agenda item regarding televising the City Council meetings.  We plan to present the proposal at the June 15 Council meeting for their consideration.

Finance is completing the City Manager’s proposed FY 2006 budget with a goal of presenting to City Council by the end of June.  The preliminary 5% reduction in taxable assessed valuation provided by the Property Appraiser necessitates a millage rate increase in order to retain the same level of service and avoid the use of reserves to fund current operations.  We provided City Council with this forecast at the June 1 Council meeting.

Human Resources has completed the City’s declared state of emergency pay policy and will present to City Council for approval at the June 15 meeting.

As a reminder, City Council will hold a workshop on Wednesday, June 8 to cover the following topics:

  • Web Site Redesign
  • Emergency Management Plan
  • Project Implementation Method of Delivery
  • Laishley Park
  • Public Works/Utilities/Billing & Collection/Fleet/Warehouse Campus
          Community Sailing Center Site Selection
