Dr. Brett Beckman is a 1987 graduate of
Mississippi State University. His
veterinary career started in Memphis
where he practiced for 12 years. During
that time he pursued advanced education
in emergency and critical care medicine
and surgery, ophthalmology and oral
surgery. For the last 15 years he has
studied under human and
veterinary specialists throughout the
United States and Canada.
He was recently honored as a member
of the board of the American Veterinary
Dental Society.
Dr
Beckman is one of 77 veterinarians in
the world who have
completed extensive training to
become regarded as a Fellow in the
Academy of Veterinary Dentistry He has
published numerous peer-reviewed
articles in the field of veterinary
dentistry and oral surgery.
He has recently been honored as a
candidate for the American Veterinary
Medical Association/Delta Society
national award for Veterinarian of the
Year for 2004.
He owns and operates a companion animal
practice in Punta Gorda, Florida. He
lectures throughout the United States on
topics related to dentistry, anesthesia
and pain management . Dr. Beckman is
the official veterinarian for Gulf Coast
Pet Partners, a non-profit organization
that provides pet visitations to nursing
homes, hospitals and mental health
facilities.
In
March of 2005 the Veterinary Dental
Education Center center opened its doors
here in Punta Gorda. It is a state of
the art training facility, one of only a
few in the country, dedicated
to advancing the educational needs
of veterinarians and veterinary
technicians around the world in the
field of dentistry and oral surgery.
He and Lecia his
wife of 22 years and their 18 year old
daughter Lauren enjoy gardening,
cooking, triathlon, scuba
diving and golf.
