navigation, handling your boat, government rules and
regulations, boating in adverse conditions,
trailering and more. So this is a great opportunity
to spend one day and learn it all.
The
class requires some advanced reading and prework, so
it is necessary to register in advance. Class sizes
are limited so call 637-0766 for your spot and set
of materials.
On
the following Saturday, August 14th they
are offering a one day class on Charts and
Navigation and GPS. The morning will be charts.
You will receive a chart of Charlotte Harbor as well
as dividers and plotting tools. After the lecture
you will then plot a course across Charlotte
Harbor. In the afternoon session you will learn how
a GPS works, how to calibrate one, how to put in way
points and how to follow a course. Again this
class is free and includes lunch. The only cost is
for your class materials. The seats are limited so
call 637-0766 to reserve your spot.
Both
of these are great classes and I recommend every
boater should consider taking both. What a great
way to learn all the basics and be ready to plot a
course in a very short time. And for you parents,
don’t forget the law regarding people under 21 years
of age and operating a watercraft. Send your young
person to the class and get safe as well as legal..
The fines are potential liability from accidents are
far more expensive than the class materials.
