Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA)
by Greg Kane

The CMA is an international organization of motorcyclist whose motto is: Sharing the love of Jesus Christ with motorcyclist one heart at a time. The Association was chartered in 1975, and even though there have been no major membership drives, the CMA has received almost 100,000 membership applications and chartered more than 750 chapters in the USA.

CMA's purpose is three fold:
First, encourage and conduct public worship and personalized ministry among motorcyclists at rallies and events.
Second, proclaim, teach and spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Third, encourage Christian fellowship among motorcyclist.

The local CMA chapter, "Son Chasers," is involved with several motorcycle events and activities here in Florida. On a state level the Son Chasers supports the CMA Fla. State Rally as well as "Run For The Son," which is the CMA's only fund raiser. Also at the state level, the local chapter participates in the ProStar races in Gainesville and the Phil Peterson Miami to Key West Poker Run and Rally. At the national level, CMA is active in both Daytona bike rallies: Bike Week and Biketober Fest.

Locally, the Son Chasers organize regular day rides to various attractions in south Florida. Community service includes riding in several local parades, holiday toy runs in support of Toys For Tots, road cleanup on US-41, and providing mentoring and school supplies to Cross Roads Wilderness Institute.

Son Chasers also ride with other local motorcycle clubs such as ABATE of Southwest Florida. In fact, the Vice President of Son Chasers is also Chaplain of the local ABATE chapter.

CMA welcomes all motorcyclist (and all motorcycle brands) to join them on their rides or at the monthly meetings. Meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month at 3:30P.M. in the conference room at St. Joseph Hospital on Harbor Blvd. in Port Charlotte.
